N & Z Range Casements

Window references in white type indicate that the windows are available in Homelight double glaze construction. Use the suffix 'DG' after the type reference e.g. ZNC2DG.

Some of the illustrations are drawn in N range proportions; some are drawn in Z range proportions. The type reference printed immediately under the illustrations indicates which is shown. In most cases both N and Z sizes are available.

Where the letter A appears within an illustration, it is recommended that an adjustable Trickle ventilator should be specified to provide secure, weather-tight trickle ventilation at the head of the pane. Trickle ventilators can be fitted in any pane in a N or Z window 508mm or more in length.

Note that safety glass may be required in certain panes depending on sill heights (see BS 6262) so 'FSB' windows could be more economical to install.

Top hung fanlights in windows suffixed 'F' and 'V' are 306mm and and 250mm high respectively. The minimum size of inner or outer frame for special manufacture of single glazed windows is 242mm.

In the case of DG construction, minimum frame sizes vary according to to frame proportion. 285mm x 480mm, and 400mm x 400mm are typical. Consult Crittall for advice.

It is recommended that a template is produced for curved and radius windows (for refurbishment).

H & Small Pane Casements

Homelight windows feature two basic modular plane widths. 'H', Small Pane and N casements are based on traditional 462mm (18 1/4 inch) glass width in a fixed pane. 'Z' range casements are based on a 582mm (23 inch) glass width, where a wider proportion is preferred.

The Homelight windows with 'Georgian' small panes are designed for single glazing only. They are not prepared for glazing beads unless specially ordered, in which case larger tee bars are included. The horizontal and vertical glazing bars in 'Georgian' style doors are larger than those in unbeaded 'Georgian' style windows and do not match them visually when coupled together: it is recommended that windows are specified to have matching glazing bars in such circumstances. Trickle ventilators cannot be accomodated in 'Georgian' style windows.

All Homelight doors are manufactured using the corporate W20 section. When sidelights are utilised with double glazed doors, Crittall advise the use of Corporate W20 manufactured sidelights in order that the glazing bars match.
